GG Elo Calculations

 

The GG Elo rating is calculated only using matches played in the following official tournaments, starting from 2020:

• Carcassonne Champions League (CCL)
• World Team Carcassonne Online Championship (WTCOC)
• Team Continental Championships (Europe, Asia, America)

 

Friendly games, national leagues, and other events are not included in the Elo calculation.

 

Players who have not played at least one official match within the last 2 years are excluded from the active GG Elo ranking.

 

The MSO is currently under consideration and may be added in the future.

 

Elo Rating Model

 

GG Elo uses the classic Elo rating system.

Each player has a numerical rating representing their playing strength.

After every match, the ratings of both players are recalculated based on:

• the match result
• the rating difference between the players

 

All eligible tournaments have equal weight in the system.

 

The match score (e.g. 2–0, 2–1, 3–0, 3–1, 3–2) affects the rating change coefficient, meaning more decisive wins result in a larger Elo adjustment.
